Backcountry Splitboard Weeks

18th Jan 2014 - Splitboard Intro week, £1175
8th Feb 2014 - Splitboard Touring week, £1175

Snowboard touring and backcountry travel has grown massively as more and more riders look to find fresh lines and solitude far beyond the confines of traditional ski resorts. We've been into the Splitboard concept for a long time (Stevo having purchased his back in 2007). Splitboards, as the name suggests, break into two halves to allow uphill travel in the same way as touring skis. The technology has advanced massively in the past couple of years, with dedicated splitboard bindings removing a lot of the clunkiness inherent in older systems.

We have teamed-up with Neil McNair, Signal Snowboards and Karakoram bindings to offer a splitboard touring week based in Sainte Foy. We will use the resort as a base for tours into the local backcountry and elsewhere around the valley, including the wide-open spaces of the Vanoise national park.

To join us on the splitboard week, you should be a competent off-piste snowboarder, but previous splitboard experience is not required. A decent level of physical fitness (skinning is hard work!) is required.

Cost for the week will be £1175, based on 2 sharing a twin or double room (as appropriate!) which includes:

  • Signal Splitboard and Spark R&D binding rental, complete with skins and crampons
  • 5 days of splitboard guiding with Neil
  • Rental of avalanche safety equipment if required
  • Avalanche safety training session (on evening of warm-up day)
  • Transport around the valley throughout the week
  • 7 nights accommodation in Chalet Col du Mont
  • Hot breakfast and 4-course dinner on 6 nights of the week (we still provide breakfast on our day off, just no hot option)
  • Packed lunch
