A couple of season ago, we rode the Tour of Mont Blanc as an end-of-season guides-only trip (all photos on the right taken on our trip!). We had an amazing week and we've been keen to run it as a guided trip ever since. Pat will be guiding the trip over 6 days of riding. We will follow the classic Tour de Mont Blanc route closely, with a few variations to pick up better trails and maybe short-cut a little of the climbing. Vehicle support will be in place to transport bags, etc. but this will mostly be a pedal-powered trip. The itinerary makes a full loop around the highest peak of the Alps, taking in France, Switzerland and Italy and stopping off in famous mountain towns like Chamonix, Champex and Courmayeur.

The date we've chose in mid-September is aimed at getting the best of the settled, autumn weather while avoiding the crowds that can clog up this mega-honeypot trail during July and August. When we rode it in early October 2014, we had (mostly) glorious weather and saw perhaps a dozen walkers on the whole trip once we were away from the valley towns. As a bonus, the mountains are at their most stunning at this time of year - green valleys, autumn colours on the higher slopes and snow on the peaks. This date is also just early enough to catch the possiblity of some chairlift uplift and the catered service in the mountain huts.

Accommodation will be in a mix of valley hotels and one or two nights in mountain refuges. Unlike most of our trips, food and drink is not included as we will be travelling light and eating breakfast in the hotel, lunch in a valley town or mountain buffette and evening meals in a restaurant or mountain hut.

Trip cost of €995 per person includes

  • 6 days of 100% fully-qualified guiding (meet the guides)
  • Airport Transfers
  • 7 nights accommodation in hotels and mountain refuges
  • Vehicle support
  • Entertainment (Pat)
What's not included:
  • Meals
  • Lift passes
  • Insurance - we can't stress enough how important insurance is! From personal experience, a major claim can run to 40,000€ or more. Your EHIC card does NOT provide sufficient cover - it covers you for only 80% of your medical bills and provides no cover at all for mountain rescue, repatriation, etc.
  • Flights

Please be aware that our specialist trips such as the Tour of Mont Blanc require a minimum number of people to run, usually 4. If we're not able to get a group together, we will still try to run the trip if we can but it may become impractical. In this case, we'll offer you a discount and a switch to our "standard" trip running at the same time (either Classic Singletrack or Backcountry) with a strong flavour of the TMB riding added in where we can.
