This concept has taken a long time to bring to fruition - a week-long, multi-day mountain bike trip passing all the resorts in the Tarentaise and using as much uplift as possible to maximise the singletrack descents. We've run some similar ad-hoc trips by special request over the years, going all the way back to 2010. We wanted to build on that to make a regular trip, covering some of the best lift-accessed and backcountry trails while travelling across the whole of the Tarentaise.

The trip will start in Val d'Isere and, over the course 6 days, cover all the ground from Val to Tignes, through wild, empty spaces to Sainte Foy. From Sainte Foy, up to skirt the Italian border and ride little-used trails back down into civilisation in Bourg Saint Maurice. Some classic Les Arcs and La Plagne descents follow, before crossing the ridge to drop down into the Bozel valley to hook up with the lift systems of Courchevel, Meribel and Les Menuires for the last part of the trip. Each night, we'll stay in a different resort/valley hotel or Gite with the chance to also spend a night or two in more remote mountain huts.

The aim is to make best use of the lifts to ride the whole tour almost entirely on singletrack trails. There is a lot of ground to cover so there will be some climbing at times, but never too much (max 500m in a day) and we'll be riding with light packs. Big skies, big trails, big adventure.

The exact itinerary will vary according to the chairlift opening schedules (certain lifts are only open on certain days and we may have to work around this), the weather/trail conditions and the ability and fitness levels of the group.

Trip cost of €1020 per person includes:

  • 6 days of guided riding with Stevo
  • Transfers from Geneva airport on Saturdays
  • 7 nights half-board accommodation in hotels or mountain huts
  • Vehicle support
What's not included:
  • Lift passes
  • Lunch
  • Insurance - we can't stress enough how important insurance is! From personal experience, a major claim can run to 40,000€ or more. Your EHIC card does NOT provide sufficient cover - it covers you for only 80% of your medical bills and provides no cover at all for mountain rescue, repatriation, etc.
  • Flights

Please be aware that our specialist trips such as the Tarentaise Tour require a minimum number of people to run, usually 4. If we're not able to get a group together, we will still try to run the trip if we can but it may become impractical. In this case, we'll offer you a discount and a switch to our "standard" trip running at the same time (either Classic Singletrack or Backcountry) with a strong flavour of the Tarentaise Tour riding added in where we can.
