La Rosiere

La Rosiere has started to put some effort into mountain biking, building new trails and opening up lifts. The new trails are fairly typical Alps tracks - wide and bermy, and not particualrly interesting. At the same time though, there are some great natural trails nearby. Some of our favourite singletrack descents are to be found around La Rosiere, including the Trail of 1,000,000 switchbacks and Veni, Vidi, Vici. We often ride these as part of a valley tour starting from the chalet door in Sainte Foy, letting the van take the strain on the ups and saddling up for the singletrack on the downs. Sometimes, we'll use the Roches Noires chairlift to reach the Col de la Traversette at around 2,500m, allowing a continuous descent all the way to Bourg Saint Maurice (at 800m!), 95% of it on great singletrack.

La Rosiere sits just below the Col de Petit Saint Bernard, marking the Italian border, from where it's possible to cross over to La Thuile.
